Grand Prix racing team started 1962 by the
top Australian driver, Jack Brabham (1926-).
Their first car, designed by Ron Tauranac,
gained its first win 1964, and in 1966
Brabham won the world title in his own Repco
engine-powered car. It was the first time
anyone had won the world title in a car
bearing their own name. Denny Hulme (1936-)
won the title for the company the following
year. Brabham retired in 1970 and the company
lost some of its impetus. It returned to
Grand Prix racing in 1989.
